Hiking on Table Mountain
- About 5 hours
First seen by a European in 1488 and first climbed by a European in 1503. Now it is your turn! Cape Town's Table Mountain is probably the most well known icon in South Africa, after, of course, former President Nelson Mandela.
If you only get to do ONE thing in Cape Town, a hike up our favourite hunk of sandstone it should be! Our hike will certainly increase your heart rate and the panoramic views of the Mother City will leave you breathless! The hike up Table Mountain is a must for anyone with an adventurous spirit.
Various options exist, depending on the fitness and inclination of the group. The easiest option is Platteklip Gorge – a moderate 2 to 3 hour hike or for the fitter, more experienced hikers with a head for heights, we can tackle Kasteelpoort or India Venster. All return down Platteklip Gorge - approximately 1 hour hike (or via cable car 3 minutes, but you will have to buy a ticket).

Fantastic days outing with a great and knowledgeable tour guide and the motorised cycles were a treat
Brilliant day trip. And special shout out for the delicious picnic. That tuna mayo is tough to beat. Thanks to our guide Bill for keeping us entertained throughout.
The best cycle tour operator in South Africa. These guys are passionate about cycling and know the country like the back of their hands. On top of all that they have a great selection of bicycles in great condition.
We rented several bicycles from Day Trippers. They where extremely poorly maintained, the shocks where ceased and the brakes failed on one of the bikes. Another bike the rubber came loose and fell into the derailer, breaking the chain. Fortunately no-one was injured, but this good fortune in no way reflects on the bike! Poor service
Wow! What an incredible experience! We build some of the best memories, seen some of the most beautiful countryside SA has to offer and built on friendships, which will last a lifetime!
We can not thank Steve, Cele, Di and Daytrippers enough. Steve and Cele were the best possible tour guides. Their ease of handling any situation or request was remarkable. No task too tough and always with a smile. The accommodation, snacks, route and logistics were near perfect. Thank you!
You will definitely see us again!
This is a fantastic tour touching on many of the iconic spots along the coast down to Cape Point. From boats to bikes, beaches to mountain tops, there is something for everyone. The guides are fun, professional, courteous and friendly. It's a day well spent in Cape Town.
I've taken this tour twice in the past two months. On my first trip (hosting 10 students from the US) we had no problems, other than wrangling our kids and keeping to the schedule. On my second trip (with my dad), we had similar issues sticking to the time table. We got delayed, missed our boat departure and took a later one, and the rest of the day felt hurried and rushed. We still managed to do everything, but we didn't have much time to soak it in at each stop. We also had some difficulty with the bikes (mine in particular). Since this tour uses e-bikes, there is a bit of technology involved that Im not familiar with, but it took a few combos of bike & battery to get a winning combination for me (which again delayed us by at least 30 minutes).
With updated/fixed/newer e-bikes, this would be a 5-⭐ rating. It's such a beautiful tour and lots of fun!
